Peugeot is proud to sponsor a new and inspiring online programme, GreenQuest.ie that aims to raise awareness about environmental issues in a fun and exciting way. An online quiz has been designed highlighting real opportunities and tips to save energy and money in relation to transport, the home and workplace. The quiz is open to everyone over the age of 13 in Ireland and offers participants free, valuable prizes each month for the duration of the 5-month campaign. The top prize at the end of the competition is an energy efficient Peugeot 308 HDi SE+ 5-door hatchback, World Record Holder for best consumption, worth over €22,000. To participate in the quiz entrants register their details on www.greenquest.ie and simply select ‘Play the Quiz’. The current month’s quiz will have a green indicator. There are 10 multiple-choice questions each month and each question has a link to supporting information on the topic of the question. A rosette will appear if an entrant has been selected as a monthly winner and an email is sent. The free monthly prizes all have a green theme: a Rapid 400 electric bike, a 2-night break for 2 people from Carlton Hotels, solar panels, energy efficient products for the home, energy efficient laptops, a weekend for 2 at Ashford Castle, Peugeot bicycles, a family weekend at the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon and family passes to Lough Key Forest Park. The final grand prize is a Peugeot 308 HDi hatchback, World Record holder for fuel consumption. GreenQuest is the brainchild of Martin Heneghan and Tom Canavan, from Castlebar, Co. Mayo. They were prompted by the success of their online programme for second level schools in Ireland since 2002 (www.graduate.ie) and their US programme promoting Science and Technology. Padraic Larkin is the Science Advisor to the project. He lives in Wexford and has worked in the environmental field for over 30 years. He is an ex-Director and Deputy Director General of the Irish Environmental Protection Agency. At the launch of GreenQuest.ie, Martin Heneghan said, “Our hope is that by directing participants of the online quiz to all matters green, they will be inspired to live more sustainably by modifying their lifestyles, even in a small way. If each of us do a little bit, the overall effect will be significant. By raising the awareness of the public through www.GreenQuest.ie we also hope to contribute in a small way towards sustainable economic growth for the country. Indeed, Ireland is well positioned to develop the economy along green lines. We have many natural advantages over other countries including our renewable energy potential and our skilled, adaptable workforce.” Peugeot has joined forces with the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Council for Forest Research and Development (COFORD), Greenstar, Ireland’s leading provider of environmental waste management and recycling solutions, Senator Windows, Carlton Hotel Group, ElectricWheels.ie, Elvery Sports and Ashford Castle to sponsor the new sustainable living website. Peugeot currently has 32 low-CO2 emission cars in its range, that qualify for the Government scrappage scheme and Band A or B road tax.
