ENVIRONMENT
The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a priority for Peugeot. Right from the design stage, the Peugeot 308 has integrated the overall environmental protection measures. This approach ensures the use of dedicated technologies, with special attention being devoted to aerodynamism.
Energy Saver tyres
The Energy Saver Tyres were exclusively developed with Michelin for the Peugeot 308 at its launch. These tyres feature a new design which reduces roll resistance, and consequently the amount of energy required to propel the vehicle, whilst at the same time maintaining its roadholding qualities.
Engines
The PSA Peugeot Citroën Group applies the innovation policy in relation to the pollution controls implemented. PSA Peugeot Citroën high tech engines provide a level of power which fulfils customers’ expectations whilst significantly reducing consumption levels.
Recycling
95 % of a Peugeot 308 at the end of its life can be recycled - in particular metal parts, which now constitute a major source for the supply of raw materials for the steel industry.
Aerodynamism
Aerodynamism, weight control and friction reduction play a large part in the environmental performance of a vehicle by limiting consumption. Within its category, the Peugeot 308, has the lowest front surface forward movement air resistance coefficient (SCx). This performance results in a reduction of consumption, and therefore operational savings and less pollution.
FAP
Since 2000, the HDi technology has been combined with a high-performance pollution control system, the FAP filter. This filter eliminates diesel particles once and for all by reducing particles to the measurable threshold (0.004 g/km). The FAP is a self-cleaning device which treats the gas from diesel combustion in the engine.
