PERFORMANCE
With its low inertia centre and the wide tracks of the front chassis, the Peugeot 308 shows aggressive road performance qualities. Performance is the results of Peugeot’s know-how and experience of roadhandling. The Peugeot 308’s braking performance is among the best on the market, thanks to its large disk brakes.
Roadhandling
The development of the Peugeot 308’s running gear, served by the body outstanding rigidity, has been fine-tuned to provide the best possible combination of roadholding and comfort.
HPT engine and VTi
In co-operation with the BMW Group, PSA Peugeot Citroën is developing and producing a new family of HPT (High Pressure Turbo) petrol engines ranging from 95 to 175 hp. Fitted with the latest technology, these engines have achieved new feats in terms of performance and driveability, as well as achieving reduced consumption and CO2 emission levels. The VTi (Variable valve lift and Timing Injection) technology largely takes onboard the technology featured in the HPT engine and adds a variable lift system for the intake valves which enables the engine’s thermodynamic efficiency to be improved, and thus reduces consumption.
Six-speed controlled manual gearbox
This six-speed manual gearbox fitted with the 1.6 l HDi 110 hp engine with an FAP filter features a gear change system through the steering wheel control paddles.
Steering wheel
The Peugeot 308 electro-hydraulic power steering offers to the driver maximum driving precision. Moreover, the wide tracks and the generous tyres (up to 18’’) contribute to this driving efficiency.
