Celebrating over 130 years of bicycle manufacturing excellence, and with ten years of expertise in e-Bike production alone, PEUGEOT Cycles is making a comeback to competition in 2019. Entering the World E-Bike Series (WES), the inaugural international electric mountain-bike series, the PEUGEOT riders, their bikes and their sponsors will be revealed on 22 February at the PEUGEOT Design Lab Studio in Vélizy (France).
Nicolas Lau, Morgane Jonnier and Jean-Roch Vecten, will join Vincent Ancelin, Team Manager to defend the PEUGEOT colours. Sporting the legendary black-and-white chequered PEUGEOT jerseys, the team will take part in the 2019 WES stages in Monaco, Switzerland, Italy and Spain, whilst also competing for Enduro World Series titles, starting in New Zealand and Australia this March and the French e-Bike and Mountain Bike Championship, this May.
Nicolas Lau, 29, joins the PEUGEOT e-bike team this year as lead rider after a brilliant performance in the Enduro World Series in 2016 (fifth overall). He completed an impressive hat-trick of wins in 2015 at the Transprovence, Andes Pacifico and Trans Savoie multi-day trail events. Nicolas has been nicknamed King of blind racing for his riding skills and he is closely involved in the development of mountain-biking in Alsace, France. He will take on the best Elite riders in the four events of the World E-Bike Series (WES) and is aiming for top spot in the Enduro overall rankings.
Morgane Jonnier, age 28, joined PEUGEOT Cycles in December 2017. Morgane won the French Enduro Mountain-Bike Cup in 2018. French vice-champion in Enduro mountain-biking, Morgane will represent the PEUGEOT Cycles Team in the Enduro International World Series mountain-biking events and at the French mountain-biking and e-mountain biking Cup and championship.
Jean Roch Vecten, age 25, is a promising rider who became a PEUGEOT Cycles ambassador three years ago, following his overall win in the junior category of the Elsass Enduro Tour in 2011.
Vincent Ancelin, age 44, is Team manager. A PEUGEOT Cycles ambassador for six years, he is involved in product development, special events and press relations. Since 2002, he has notched up an impressive list of sporting achievements in downhill marathon and Enduro, culminating in a win at the electric Enduro in 2017.
Sponsors kitting out the PEUGEOT Team bikes and riders include SUNTOUR for the forks, HUTCHINSON for the tyres, BOSCH for the batteries and motors, SHIMANO for the brakes and transmission and MACH 1 for the wheels.
Mountain-biking fans will be able to meet the PEUGEOT Cycles riders at a number of Bike Festivals, including the Vélo Vert Festival, France in May, the Verbier e-Bike Festival, Switzerland in August and the Roc D’Azur Festival in France this October.
Both Brand Ambassadors and riders, the team is fully involved in developing future models for the general public. Their racing bikes (electrically assisted eM02 FS Power Tube, with a BOSCH battery directly integrated in the frame) are production bikes. From 2019, each new PEUGEOT vehicle will be available with an electric bike companion, as an accessory. Fun, easy to ride and pleasantly silent, e-bikes represent the future and already account for one third of all bike sales.
