PEUGEOT recorded the strongest growth in the Irish new car market at +53% for the first six months of 2018, as demand for the PEUGEOT range continues to soar. The success comes on the back of sales of the award-winning PEUGEOT 3008 SUV, Irish Car of the Year 2018 and the much-sought-after new 5008 7-seat SUV. PEUGEOT vans maintained their number 5 market position, with a 6.7% share. The strong car sales growth placed the PEUGEOT marque in the overall top ten league, delivering a 4.6% overall market share, cars and vans combined.
Des Cannon, Managing Director at Gowan Distributors, PEUGEOT Importers in Ireland, said: “Despite a slight contract in the new car market, I am delighted to report growth of 53% in the first six months of the year. Our excellent SUV line-up, together with our five year warranty and attractive low-cost finance options across the range, has most certainly attracted conquest sales.”
He continued: “The all-important July 182-registration period is now upon us and our customer orders across the PEUGEOT Dealer Network are extremely healthy. We look forward now to continued growth in the second half of the year and beyond, thanks to the pending arrival of the new Rifter mini-MPV and the radical new 508 in late 2018.”
